BEFORE MOWING
Engine Oil
Check the engine oil level with
the engine stopped and the
mower on a level surface.
1. Remove the oil filler cap, and
wipe the dipstick clean:
2. Insert and remove the
dipstick without screwing it
into the filler neck. Check the
oil level shown on the dipstick.
3. If the oil level is low, add oil to
reach the upper limit mark on
the dipstick. Do not overfill.
Running the engine with a low oil
level can cause engine damage.
Use high-detergent, premium
quality 4-stroke engine oil,
certified to meet or exceed U.S.
automobile manufacturers’
requirements for API Service
Classification SG, SF/CC, CD.

Using nondetergent oil can
shorten the engine’s service
life, and using 2-stroke oil can
damage the engine.
SAE 1 OW-30 is recommended
for general, all-temperature
use. Other viscosities shown in
the chart may be used when
the average temperature in

4. After checking the engine oil
level, screw in the filler
cap/dipstick securely.
